In short. Viska is a small, private app for sending taps between two people. Use it kindly, do not rely on it for anything urgent or safety related, and the usual legal protections apply. The full terms are below.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and the developer of Viska ("Viska", "we", "us") governing your use of the Viska app for iPhone and Apple Watch and this website. By downloading, installing, or using Viska, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. The service

Viska lets two paired people send short patterns of taps to each other, felt as haptics, and save private meanings for those patterns. It relies on Apple services, including iCloud, CloudKit, and Apple Push Notification service, to pair devices and deliver taps. Viska is a way to stay in touch playfully. It is not a messaging platform, an emergency service, or a guaranteed delivery system.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use Viska. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide to Apple for your account is accurate. You are responsible for the security of your device and your Apple ID.

4. Acceptable use

Viska is meant for warm, consensual contact between two people who both want to be connected. You agree not to:

  • use Viska to harass, threaten, intimidate, or send unwanted contact to another person;
  • pair with, or attempt to reach, anyone who has not agreed to be paired with you;
  • use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, tamper with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the app or the services it relies on;
  • use the app in any way that could harm, disable, or overburden Apple's services.

If someone no longer wishes to receive your taps, you must stop. Viska lets either person end a pairing at any time.

5. Purchases and refunds

Viska is free to download and try. Unlocking a pairing is a one-time in-app purchase. All purchases are made through the Apple App Store and are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

Because purchases are processed by Apple, refunds are also handled by Apple according to their policies. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly. To request a refund, use Apple's Report a Problem page. Reconnecting with a partner you have already unlocked does not require a new purchase. Pairing with a different person may require a new purchase.

6. Your content

The patterns you send and the meanings you save are yours. You are responsible for the content you create and send, and for making sure it is appropriate for the person receiving it. You grant us only the limited, technical permission needed for the app to store and deliver that content through Apple's services on your behalf. We do not claim ownership of your content and, as described in our Privacy Policy, we cannot read the contents of your private iCloud data.

7. Ownership of the app

Viska, including its name, its mark, its design, and its software, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

8. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Viska running well, but we may update, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time. Viska depends on Apple services and on network conditions outside our control. Taps are delivered on a best-effort basis and may be delayed or, in rare cases, not delivered. We do not guarantee that the app will be available, uninterrupted, or error free.

9. Disclaimers

Do not rely on Viska for anything urgent, time-sensitive, medical, or safety related. It is not designed for emergencies and there is no guarantee a tap will be delivered or noticed in time.

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, missed messages, or lost opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Viska. To the extent we are found liable, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or ten euros, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

11. Termination

You may stop using Viska at any time by unpairing and deleting the app. We may suspend or end your license if you breach these Terms. The sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, will continue to apply.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will make that clear in the app or its App Store listing. By continuing to use Viska after an update, you accept the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Finland. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and nothing here removes your right to bring a claim where local law allows.
